Interview with the D3 Opps team

Jared was just a guy in Operations, His drone designs lacked variations, One day he found Fusion 360, And arrived at the conclusion, It could really upgrade his creations! As I walked through the D3 headquarters on that otherwise normal Tuesday afternoon, still jetlagged and half asleep, a subtle detail jumped out at me.  I had seen that cell phone stand before.  In fact, I had seen several versions of it on various desks around the office.  Where did it come from?  Who was responsible for this apparently viral piece of office equipment?  And wh…

Autodesk Fusion 360 - Marking Menu (Level 2)

You’ve seen the marking menu before…  but have you seen this?!!  [queue marking menu level 2 gif]   That’s right, Fusion 360 has sub-level marking menus.  Very nice!  Right now, you’ll mainly find this tool in the sketching environment.  Once you’re editing a sketch you’ll see it. If you don’t know exactly how to use this thing, it can seem a bit awkward.  I’ve seen people skip the marking menu completely for sketching commands, because they thought it took to many clicks or extra time spent hovering over the second level node to access it. Here are…

Guess what, another new Fusion 360 Update hit last week!  As usual, I’m not going to cover every detail which you can get in [Autodesk Fusion 360 Update blog here].  I'm just going to focus on a few of my favorite updates. Buy Fusion 360 Add Fusion 360 to your cart to subscribe now FCA out of beta!  That’s right, FCA!  Wait, you don’t know what that means?  Actually, I wouldn’t have known either from the acronym, but you probably already know what it does.  FCA is Fully Constrained Analysis.  This is what makes your sketched geometry change colors t…

The Next “MCAD” Revolution

My passion has always been around computer-aided design (CAD) for the manufacturing industry.  It may be an old acronym, but I still like to call it MCAD.  To be honest, the last 5 or so years, things have gotten a bit stale.  Sure, desktop 3D parametric solid-modeling has been advancing consistently with better performance and new bells & whistles, but it’s still a technology that’s been around for years… eek, decades. Let’s face it; we’re due for some disruption in the MCAD industry!  That thought leads to something I’m really excited about…  The next…
