Autodesk Fusion 360: Spring 2017 Roadmap Update

By RJ, Posted April 4, 2017

Earlier last year it seems I was always referring people to the Fusion 360 Roadmap.  How cool is it that the Fusion 360 team not only took user feedback seriously, but also had a public plan of their features and improvements!  However, the months stretched on and the content got older and older.  There were things on the roadmap that were already released and ancient technology (in Fusion-time anyway) but still listed as upcoming.

I stopped bringing up the roadmap quite so often.  I wondered honestly whether the Roadmap was an experiment gone bad.  Late last week, I got the answer.  The roadmap is alive and well!  With the following intro, they took the words right out of my mouth: “Yeah, it’s about darn time.  Here’s our long-awaited roadmap update…”  Well, I used a few different words, but otherwise – yeah – right out of my mouth.

The last few Roadmaps have been created in Mural, which is a pretty cool kind of collaboration tool.  You can see the broad overview, and then zoom in to any topic to see more detail on plans and steps along the way, without digging through all the topics you don’t need.  If you haven’t seen it yet check it out here!  I’m sure it was a lot of work getting all this together but it’s worth it.  Users appreciate the transparency in planning for Fusion 360, am I right?

On a side note, even roadmaps are improving!  Here’s a quick mashup of the evolution of the last few Roadmaps with a close-up of one hot item on the latest: Sheet Metal!
