Employee Spotlight: Patrick McClanahan

Patrick McClanahan

Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area)

Where are you from originally?

I was born in Joplin, MO. Moved to the St. Louis area around 2001 from Nixa, Missouri for Autodesk. I have been in the CAD industry since 1986 working with different hardware and software manufacturers.

What school/schools have you attended?

Started my college days at Missouri Southern State College, now MSSU, and finished in Phoenix, Arizona while working for Schlumburger Technologies at the University of Phoenix. There I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.

What are your interest/hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy watching any kind of sports, football, baseball and hockey. I would consider myself an outdoors guy, I love to shoot, hunt and fish.

Favorites:

Sport/Team: Blues Hockey

Food/Restaurant: My favorite food is Baby Back Ribs at Texas Road House

TV Show/Movie: My favorite TV show is NCIS. Favorite movie would be Star Trek Generations.

What do you like to do with your family?

I loving watching my kids play sports; Connor did play football and baseball but has since focused on roller hockey. Chase is a big ice hockey player and baseball player. When we are not going to their games we enjoy fishing, camping and canoeing. Oh yes, and the boys and I love to paintball.

What is an interesting fact about you that most people don't know?

While working for Schlumburger Technologies, Candi and I lived in Japan for one year back in 1989.

When did you first start working at D3 and what do you do at D3?

I have been a Regional Sales Manager for our St. Louis office for 2 ? years.

What do you enjoy most about working at D3? What is most challenging about it?

I enjoy coming to work knowing that I can make a difference helping local companies become better at what they do best.

Because my office is in a highly competitive market with 3 Autodesk's resellers, 3 SolidWorks resellers, 3 Unigraphics/SolidEdge and 2 PTC resellers, the most challenging thing is not getting to a manufacturing company out here in the St. Louis area before they buy. Timing is everything sometimes. Once I get a chance to just set down face to face and have a business conversation and show them how D3 can help them become better or fix a bottle neck, they know D3 has their backs and interest in mind.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Retired living in Florida on the beach, after I have opened up the Florida office of D3.

Anything else you would like to share about yourself:

I saw this quote in a customer office, and they were so kind to e-mail it to me, which I believe is true. Here's the quote from Charles Swindoll:

Attitude

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you..."
